Dysphoria: The Portraits
Veiled, ambiguous, private. Behind the face lies a web of matter and vessels, where if malady resides, what you imagine or what you desire decides the fabrication of truth.
Altered historical portraits from the Masters’ hands sit side by side with contemporary sitters. The changes in alchemic processes produce shadows and colours that is at once familiar and unsettling. Their gaze hints at altered states of desire.
Patterns and spectres emerge to provoke investigation beyond the facade into the cracks and shadows; where reality becomes imagination and imagination becomes desire. Where the value of truth can no longer be trusted, disorder becomes the will that guides ideation to action.
